NATURE

   Cantonment Board is a Municipal/Local Governance body responsible for civic functions in its area of jurisdiction

 

PURPOSE

  The main task of Cantonment Board is to provide civic amenities to the “Civil” residents in lieu of taxes, fees & charges

 

FUNCTION

  • Maintaining & developing the value of property vested in, or entrusted to the management of the Cantt Board.
  • Establishing and maintaining public hospitals, dispensaries & providing medical relief
  • Establishing and maintaining a system of public education
  • Construction and maintenance of streets, roads, culverts, public buildings, markets, public parks, water sources, drainage & sewerage and other works of public utility.

FINANCE SOURCE

Being a municipal/local body, CBB functions on self-finance basis. It has to generate its own resources to discharge its duties and functions for the purpose of which, it has the power to levy various taxes, fees and charges etc.
